Global mega trends such as the rising role of technology, climate change, demographic shifts, urbanization, and the globalization of value chains are changing the nature of work and skills demands. To succeed in the 21st century labor market, one needs a comprehensive skill set composed of:
Cognitive skills, socio-economical skills, technical skill and digital skills.(2) The development of skills can contribute to a wide and successful community. The survey, which collected data from 1,353 respondents, representing 126 countries from all over the world captured the main challenges faced by TVET institutions during this crisis and brought to light innovations in teaching and learning. This not only helped them improve their skills but also improved the results in terms of productivity and quality of work; Now more than ever, coordinated efforts are needed to build integrated national approaches to skills development so that individuals, enterprises and society can access the skills they need and deploy them in a way that benefits us all.
Skills development has been recognized as a key global priority by governments, social partners and international organizations who now also need to combine their efforts to strengthen national skills policies and systems to support achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).(3)
